On March 13 Jia Chunwang, Procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate made his work report at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the 5th Session of the 10th NPC. Jia Chunwang stressed, judicial protection of IP and environment resources should be strengthened and greater improvement be made in the procuratorate work in order to provide powerful judicial guaranty for the building of a socialist harmonious society. 

Jia Chunwang pointed out, 2006 was a year of great significance to the development of the people's procuratorial activity. Greater efforts were made on juridical protection of IP rights and environment resources, and approval was granted to arrest 3,729 suspects involved in forgery, sale and infringement of trademark right, copyright and business secrete, and lodged lawsuit against 3,634 of them, both figures registered a year-on-year increase of 16.7% and 12.6% respectively. At the same time, approval was granted to arrest 7,974 suspects who had committed crimes of destructing environment resources by severe environment pollution, illegal mining, etc., lawsuit was brought against 12,240 of them, both figures were up 15.4% and 24.8% respectively on a year-on-year basis. In 2007 procuratorial organs throughout the country should earnestly carry out the principles laid down by the Sixth Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee and the recent meeting of the NPC, adhere to the work theme of "intensifying legal supervision and safeguarding fairness and justice", comprehensively implement the scientific concept of development and carefully perform the duty and responsibility of legal supervision so as to maintain social fairness and justice as well as social harmony and stability.
